The Imagination Library mails a new, age appropriate, high quality book to registered children each month. The news reports quoted literacy experts, along with program facilitators and parent participants, who all touted the Library's positive effect on children. 
 
When parents and caregivers read to their children, it exposes them to a larger, more diverse vocabulary and greater variety of sentence structures. Children are exposed to the many “concepts of print” and develop alphabetic knowledge, phonological awareness and memory – all essential skills leading to school readiness and future academic success.
 
Since 1995, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has delivered more than 90 million books to children in more than 2,000 local communities worldwide.
